The Bridge-Target audience

The Target audience for my production film is set for younger teenagers who will eventually turn 18 and want to explore around the world by traveling with there friends or even if it's walking home alone. I would love it if my friend Charlotte who's 18 would watch this and enjoy and understand the key concepts. In order in doing this i will have  to create a story which will attract my target audience. When doing this i will create a questionnaire and see what people would like to watch and what attracts them to films. By using a young adult it also gives my friend the same comparrisons to the film. When doing this i will have to think about the way the camera is set up so it creates tension to the audience. When the film comes to the problem in the story it will ingage the audinece as they may relate to it themselfs.

This film could be set at mainstreams, as many teenagers would be concerned of there own security and stability. The film is vased around a young adult who gets rapped by a police officer it teaches soceity that not everyone you can trust and you should nevewr walk alone expesically at night. The film has the uses and gratifications theory in it as it's making the audience learn about the society. It states under the uses of gratification theory learning is self-education and confidence through gaining knowledge. The film i am creating uses a lot of juxta positioning, which gives the audience personal relationship maybe between the film and them or as they realise that this could happen to them. This could be seen as entrainment as it has emotional release. In this film i will also be using the hypodermic theory, this theory injects the audience with certain information which, in this case i believe is right. My film links into Maslow Hierarchy of need, the reason for this is it touches the need of safety and security. My film works up the hierarchy as eventually in my film it comes to a point where the problem gets solved.

I will be delivering this by creating a five minute short flim, where a young girl gets rapped by a police officer, the camera effetcs creates mystre and egimers.

Taken Poster

This poster is Showing you the main actor and actress, the poster has the word Taken in red colour, which indicates violence and death. By having the title in Bold text it gives the title a strange feeling, the title almost tells the audience what the film is about. In this film you see the personal relationships forming between the family in general. This follows the gratification theory with a number of other aspects. For example, its shows so much information about relevant events that happen in real life. There are, so many relevant points it teachers society about what things could happen if you speak to strangers. In this film they use a lot of juxta potions to show you the amount of violence happening. The only disadvantage to this is it makes it more unrealistic. This film shows integration and social interaction, this terminology gives the audience basic real life companionship. Its also helps to carry out a social role. This film is mainstreams, which is set at a larger group of people, who are concerned with stability and security, mainly buying well-recognised brands and consuming mainstream texts. I would say Taken is set for Younger Adults that are older to go away on there own. Even though the film taken is set for young adults, i believe middle age people would watch this to understand what it's like out there. This would effect people who have families as parents would see this and be more aware of the implications that may be caused when traveling alone.

Edouard Manet a bar at the Foiles-Bergere,1882

A Bar at the Folies-Bergere by Edouard Manet. Fine Art Reproduction by Fabulousmasterpieces.co.uk

This picture shows a women working at a bar serving the upper class, in the backgrounds reflection you can see a man being served by her. The ladies face looks really down and depressing, you can see from the image that the man is the dominant one. you can tell the lady is at a different class to the rest of the people reflecting in the background. She covering up her cleavage with a flower, her top is very low cut compared to the women and men in the upper class, as all there clothes are showing no flesh.

(source: http://www.fabulousmasterpieces.co.uk/page23.htm )
"A barmaid stands in front of a mirror, staring blankly out into the bar of the popular Paris nightclub the Folies-Bergère. In a clever twist, the viewer is put in the position of her customer as we see from the mirror's reflection that she is in fact serving a mysterious, top-hatted gentleman. The barmaid's enigmatic expression is as inscrutable as the Mona Lisa's while Manet's mastery of fast Impressionist-style brushwork makes it a technical masterpiece".

Are women degraded in the media?

Are women degraded in the media?

Bad Points
  • Women in today's society are still not given the same amount of respect as men.
  •  Women are constantly seen in magazines with no clothes on exposing themselves.
  •   When a women takes off her clothes, people automatically think that she is uneducated and a slag.
Good Points
  •  It is the women's choice to take off her clothes, and ultimately it is her decision to let the pictures be taken.
  •  Men also model topless or with no clothes nowadays for magazines, so it is not just women who use sex to sell.
  •  Some women enjoy getting naked as they are proud of their body so why not take their clothes off if they are going to make money and they’re enjoying it.
In the past 20 years women have been able to be more opinionated and do more things like become the president of the United States. Yet there are still arguments that women are just being portrayed as sex symbols.

These magazines make women look cheap and slutty. The caption “Hello sunshine…goodbye clothes” gives the impression that she is willing to get naked just for some sun. She nearly has her nipples on show which shows she hasn’t got much respect for herself and she is probably just desperate to make money, Big $$$.

Even though the mags attract people who are fans they also attract men by the sexual poses they do. These magazines have come along way in the years. If you compared some magazines to the candy magazines then you would think cosmopolitan is a more harder and a dominate mag, where candy is a softer mag saying look at me i am Innocent and still known.
Below is a website that shows you magazines for Candy and you can see the different between the pictures and the text published. as you will see Candy mags are for a younger audience where cosmopolitan is for 17 years to younger adults.

Carrie Bradshaw

http://gossip.celebritycowboy.com/carrie-bradshaw-is-still-wearing-really-ugly-flowers/

The website above shows you a picture of Carrie Bradshaw, Carrie is currently know as a lady who plays a Major part in the film Sex and the City. When we look at certain scenes with Carrie in we see too sides of her which most people do not look out for. When looking into this i looked at the way she presented herself and the was she performed. When looking at the Film Sex and the City you would never have guessed it's produced by two gay men. When i carried on looking at the film i noticed that Carrie played two parts as a Female and a Male. This gives an audience a more detailed view of whats she is really like. When we look at the scene in Paris, Carrie is with her boyfriend but she is arguing. This shows the audience her Male side as she standing up for herself and laying down the 'LAW'. Many people would not read into this however if you look careful at the way she is standing, you will then soon notice she is standing over her boyfriend. This then shows the boyfriend she is the more dominate one. After she decides to leave her boyfriend she then turns into a female as she is need of someone to save her. Then "Big" walks in and it creates a enigma as the audience want to find out whats going to happen next. She still stays a female as he is her saver from the problem she just been in. Carrie always plays two parts in "SEX AND THE CITY" this gives the audience a great perception of her.

Proposal

Production title: The Bridge
“Tears of  Blood”

Assignment Brief

In Media studies as apart of the course work I have to make a film or a documentary, my partner and I have decided to work on a film which will last about five minutes. Before making our film I have had to research into a number of films to see what I would like to do for my coursework.

Proposal
My group member and I have decided to film a part on a young girl getting raped. The film creates a lot of enigmas as people want to know who raped the young girl.  The scene starts off with a girl who gets followed under a bridge, at night, then she is grabbed then it flashes to a man driving in the car but you cannot see who is driving. As you can see this is already creating mystery to the audience watching. The reason why we can tell it’s a man is that you see his hands and his clothes which indicate it’s a male figure. As soon as the audience see the man in the car you get a quick flash back ,which shows what the man has done pervious before he was driving. When you finally find out that the man has grabbed a girl  you see him throws the girl who’s taped up, into the boot of the car.  At this time the camera effects are fast and snappy. Then the man takes her to some kind of garage, it then flashes different shots of the scenery, trying to give the audience an idea of where the man is and what the place is like. You then see the young girl lying on the floor, she is covered in blood, crying. Then the scene gets darker as you never hear the man, you only see little shots of him but it’s only his hands and feet. The girls starts getting raped by the man and in the mean time, a girl is walking outside the garage and wonders what the screaming is all about. she calls the police as all she can hear is “get off me” “get off me” “why are you doing this?”. Then there is flashes to the next scene. she is sitting in the interview room with the police and the scenes before are telling the police the story of what’s just happened in the last 24 hours. But the question is do they ever find the man that raped her?
