Evaluation on The Bridge

Evaluation
In this evaluation, I am going to be looking at three main products I did. Three products were my poster of the film called, The Bridge, my article on, The Bridge and the film made called, The Bridge. All these products link into one another as they show the product in different lights.
When looking at my media product and relating it to another product in the media, I looked at the forms and conventions in both films. The film I compared my film to was Taken. Taken, the film relates to a child being kidnapped and used for prostitution. The film was, based on human trafficking. In a result to his film it made me realise that our films are similar in the fact that they both relate to unwanted sexual abuse. The Mise en Scene in taken, is based in Paris and partly in England, where as my film is based in England. In Taken, the film is mainly got all the action set in dark lighting, which creates enigmas and suspense. By having harsh lighting it gives the audience the feeling that something will happen. When looking at how Taken created this, I looked at how I could apply this to my film. When filming and planning I looked at places I could film, when doing this I made sure the lighting was darker than usual then changed the effects on the computer to get the right effect. By doing this is gave a realistic and scary feel to certain parts of the film.  When looking at Mise en Scene you look at a number of things like sound, lighting, the place etc. When looking at sound in both films they are used at relevant points in the film. When being used in the sequence they show importance and with the action it becomes successful. In this case both films have been throughout well as the music leads up to mystery. Both films are Horror, which both attract to a younger generation.
When I created my film, I also created a poster; I used footage from the film to make my poster on the presentation. This way it made it more realistic when showing and presenting the film. I thought it would be good to use the same Mise en Scene and use the Bridge were the girl got taken. Also by using, the picture of The Bridge it gives the audience guessing what may happen. By the name The Bridge it matches well with the picture, the picture has eyes on the picture making the audience believe someone is watching the Bridge. When doing my poster, I did research on other poster to see how they attract the audience. When looking at both of those products I also looked at doing an article with the feedback of other people’s opinions. When doing my article, I used the same background of the poster and wrote about how the film inspires younger views. I used quotes that people said to me on the feedback of the film.
The audience gave me arrange of answer with the question I asked them regarding my film. I asked a couple of people a question each to gather information on how I could make the film better in the future, or doing another product which could be similar. I asked three questions to two different people each. They were different age ranges, with gave me a better idea about my final product. The three questions I asked were, what do you think of the short film? What target age do you think the film is? Would you improve this film in any way? When looking at the feedback it gave me knowledge on how to improve my film in the future or when I create another film. Some of the answer I got back to some questions was, “The film was good in most parts, it has a range of ages throughout. The film gave importance, realisation, and guidelines. To improve the film in some places for example, the end where the girl repeated twice “it’s you” should really only be mentioned once. Other than that the short film was pretty good.” Another answer I got back was, “ I think The Bridge was aimed at teenagers as well as younger adults like myself, it shows the importance of walking on your own and teachers you what could happen. This film is all about awareness and this is why I believe the target audience was around 15-20 year olds. It could even be in the 20’s due to people going on nights out and walking on their own home.”  As you can see from this two people have different opinions on the film which gives me a wide opportunity to make my film better.
When doing my research for my film I looked at YouTube and films on the internet , when looking at YouTube I looked at the short film My Name is Lisa and About a Girl. When researching and analysing the two short films it gave me the understanding how they showed the importance’s of their film, both films had different meanings and both were realistic. When on YouTube I looked at, films that relate to rape. This gave me more information on how to put my film together and use props and look at the Mise en scene. This research helped me plan my film, now different Mise en Scene gave me the ideas to mine together.
In the future, if I had to do this again I would gather all the feedback people have given me from the questions I asked them. I would look at all my disadvantages and try to improve them. My disadvantages when making this film were, the lighting effects on the computer were hard to get used to. The apple software, we had many problems getting to grips with it. On this note, when doing editing effects it was hard trying to find the right lighting and shade. Another problem we encountered was the sound as we had to make sure it wasn’t copied and it was not breaking the copy write law. When doing this we looked at a number of sounds to also make sure they matched the part in the right way of telling the message. We encountered a lot of problems which we overcame, one of our big problems was the actors and we had four different actors playing two different parts. I suppose this helped by having a twin. When my twin couldn’t play the part I acted the part out. This helped our film, in this situation it wasn’t time consuming as it could have been.  I would say over all I picked a brilliant partner to work with as they were always there and helped out all the time. The put the same amount of work in as I did, another advantages that we had is that I had a video camera at home so I could do outside footage when not in college hours.  When looking at a short film, in the future I will look at more research and I will use my mistakes from this film to make the one in the future better.  I enjoyed my working on my film, and i think all my production work has been a successes.
